Rescuers Wanted!
Please help us save the oceans. These marine worlds need your help.Change is afoot on the B.C. coast. Wild salmon, like sockeye, are rapidly disappearing. Bottom trawlers continue to chew up sea floors. Large sea animals now ingest alarming levels of toxins. Species are appearing and disappearing from parts of the ocean.
Throughout this site, you'll see opportunities to lend your support to marine conservation. Please do what you can.
Specific Conservation Quests
CPAWS and WWF-Canada have some very pressing conservation quests, from climate change to choosing sustainable seafood. We advocate for a network of Marine Protected Areas, or MPAs, around Canada, that protect sea floors and water columns. These protected "nurseries" for fish, whales and countless other creatures are a significant solution for ocean health.
MPAs can also help the countless endangered and threatened species around the world. Diversity – on both land and sea – needs protection.
In British Columbia, we advocate for a long-awaited management plan for the beautiful North Coast – an area where a lush green rainforest meets an Emerald Sea.
