In 2009, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and WWF-Canada joined forces to create this website. Why? We want to celebrate the remarkable marine world and inspire visitors to this site to get involved in conservation efforts. Find out how!
Mysteries of the Deep
Deep, blue seas have inspired lore and mystery throughout the ages, from sea monsters to ghost pirates and mermaids. Most is fantasy, but there are real-life marine mysteries to solve – ones of science and strange circumstance.
Some of the greatest of these unsolved mysteries linger off the coast of British Columbia: the unexplained phenomena puzzle even the best scientists. Perhaps unraveling these mysteries can help solve the most pressing marine riddle of all – how to best protect the health of our oceans.
